Machines taking away from Humans

Many of us like to watch the college NCAA tournament. Well little did we know that slowly computers are taking the job away from humans behind the scenes. In a recent article I read it stated that every shot, rebound, post-up, and dunk are all captured on five different cameras that take up to 25 frames per second. In the past this is what humans had to do. We had to calculate in our heads the percentage of a win and who would do well facing off against someone. In the article is stated how this method is becoming obsolete and how advanced computers are using complicated algorithms to predict games and how this method is much more affective.

I  feel that this method is not better than the human hand technique. Yes it may be faster but the results are still the same and I believe that a human has better knowledge about humans and their instincts on the field and how they will play in certain situations than a computer does. For example I relied heavily on the computer generated percentages for the likely hood of the winners that I picked for my brackets and well my bracket didn't even get past the first round. So I believe that humans can do the stats job as good if not better than the machines.

  1. I agree that humans can do the same equations on their own but the computers are basically doing the same thing we would do just faster. A computer cant compute something unless a human gives it the algorithm to compute. If humans are just trying to solve based on a variable than computers are great but when using gut feelings and human emotion, there's no computer that is able to calculate that
